Advent Week One: Hope

Ice Cream Party (1)
A prayer for the first night of Advent:

Lord, comfort me in the waiting, when the darkness closes in. The pain, suffering, and longing in this season feels overwhelming. I am lost without your unfailing love, and long for the time when your glory will be revealed, and the darkness will no longer prevail. As I wait in hope for your return, I thank you for being my help and my shield, battling with me as I take each step of my journey. My heart rejoices in you and I trust in your holy name and unfailing love. Even as Abraham believed in your promises and waited with hopeful expectation for their fulfilment, help me to patiently count the stars of my own promises. Let my faith be credited to me as righteousness. I put my hope in you. Amen.
